Tau-fluvalinate 95% TC is a high-purity synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and acaricide used as an intermediate or active substance in various agricultural and veterinary pesticide formulations. It is the biologically active (tau) isomer of fluvalinate and exhibits strong contact and stomach action against a wide range of pests, including mites, aphids, thrips, whiteflies, and leafhoppers. Its selective toxicity and good residual effect make it valuable for integrated pest management (IPM), especially on crops such as vegetables, fruits, and ornamentals.
Tau-fluvalinate is also extensively used in apiculture for the control of Varroa destructor mites in honey bee colonies due to its relatively low toxicity to bees when applied properly.
Appearance: Pale yellow to brownish viscous liquid or semi-solid
Odor: Mild, characteristic odor
Melting Point: ~25–27°C (solidifies upon cooling)
Boiling Point: Decomposes before boiling
Density (20°C): ~1.19–1.22 g/cm³
Solubility:
Insoluble in water (<2 mg/L)
Soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, xylene, and toluene
Stability: Stable under normal storage conditions. Sensitive to strong acids, bases, and UV light

Tau-fluvalinate acts on the nervous system of insects and mites by modifying the gating kinetics of voltage-gated sodium channels. This disruption leads to paralysis and death. It is effective through contact and ingestion and has a residual effect on treated surfaces and plant tissues.
Agricultural Use:
Used to control aphids, thrips, mites, whiteflies, and other pests in crops such as vegetables, cotton, fruit trees, ornamental plants, and grapevines.
Effective in both open-field and greenhouse environments.
Veterinary/Beekeeping Use:
Formulated into strips or slow-release devices to manage Varroa mite infestations in honey bee colonies.
Approved in many regions due to low bee toxicity when used correctly.
Formulation Types:
Used to produce emulsifiable concentrates (EC), suspension concentrates (SC), flowables, and bee hive strips.
Oral LD₅₀ (rat): >2615 mg/kg
Dermal LD₅₀ (rat): >2000 mg/kg
Inhalation LC₅₀ (rat, 4h): >1.2 mg/L
Irritation: Slight skin and eye irritant
Sensitization: Not a skin sensitizer
Environmental Toxicity: Toxic to aquatic organisms; avoid contamination of water bodies.
Packaging Options: Fluorinated HDPE drums, IBC tanks, aluminum or steel containers (25–200 kg)
Storage Conditions: Store in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area, away from sunlight and heat
