Azamethiphos 1% RB is a ready-to-use granular or paste bait formulation designed for effective control of flies and other nuisance insects in livestock facilities, food-handling establishments, waste treatment areas, and other sensitive environments. Azamethiphos is an organophosphorus insecticide known for its fast-acting knockdown and residual control of adult flies. This bait attracts and kills flies upon ingestion, making it an efficient tool in integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
The bait contains food attractants and pheromones to lure flies, ensuring high palatability and rapid mortality. The formulation is typically applied as scattered granules or painted as a bait paste on surfaces where flies congregate.
Form: Granular bait or paste bait (depending on formulation)
Color: Beige to brown (granular); tan to light brown (paste)
Odor: Slightly sweet or protein-based attractant odor
Solubility: Not soluble in water (formulation-specific)
Shelf Life: 2 years minimum when stored in original packaging under cool, dry conditions
Stability: Stable under normal storage; avoid high humidity and direct sunlight
Active Ingredient: Azamethiphos – 1.0% w/w
Inert Ingredients: 99.0% w/w (including food-based attractants, sugar, binding agents, and solvents)
Target Pests:
House flies (Musca domestica)
Lesser house flies (Fannia spp.)
Other filth flies and nuisance insects
Use Areas:
Dairy farms and cattle barns
Poultry houses
Pig farms and livestock facilities
Food storage areas and processing plants
Waste disposal and composting areas
Azamethiphos functions as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, leading to the accumulation of acetylcholine in the insect’s nervous system. This results in overexcitation of the nerves, causing muscle spasms, paralysis, and ultimately death. Flies are attracted by the bait matrix and ingest the product, ensuring lethal exposure with minimal resistance development.
Fast knockdown effect on flies
Highly attractive to target species due to feeding stimulants and sex pheromones
Effective in both indoor and semi-outdoor environments
Low application rates and easy-to-use format
Minimal risk to non-target organisms when used as directed
Scattered Granules: Apply bait at a rate of 200 g per 100 m² in areas frequented by flies.
Paint-On Paste: Mix with water as per manufacturer’s instructions and apply to panels, walls, or surfaces where flies gather.
Reapplication: Reapply every 7–14 days or when bait is consumed or soiled.
Oral LD₅₀ (rat): ~1,000 mg/kg (moderately toxic)
Dermal LD₅₀: >2,000 mg/kg
Irritation/Sensitization: May cause mild skin or eye irritation; non-sensitizing under normal use
Ecotoxicity: Toxic to aquatic organisms and bees—avoid contamination of water bodies
