DEET (N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide) is a broad-spectrum insect repellent used globally to repel mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, chiggers, and other biting insects. It is the active ingredient in many personal insect repellent formulations. DEET works by interfering with the insect's ability to detect humans through scent, thereby reducing bites and vector-borne disease risks.
